Connect your website
Connecting your website lets Marlow publish the articles and changes you approve. Marlow never needs your main WordPress password.
WordPress
- Sign in to your WordPress dashboard as an administrator.
- Go to Users, then Profile, and scroll to Application Passwords.
- Type a name such as "Marlow" and choose Add New Application Password.
- Copy the password WordPress shows you. It's only shown once.
- In Marlow, open the website step and enter your site address, your WordPress username and the application password.
Marlow runs a quick test to check it can connect and publish. You can revoke the application password in WordPress whenever you like.
Use your live address. Marlow connects from the internet, so a site running only on your own computer (an address like localhost) can't be reached. Use the real public address of your website, starting with https://.
If it fails
- 403 Forbidden: something is blocking the connection. This is usually a security plugin, a firewall or your host's protection. Allow the WordPress REST API, or ask your host to let Marlow's requests through. A 403 that mentions Vercel means the address you entered is hosted on Vercel, not WordPress, so check you've used the right address.
- Application Passwords missing: some security plugins switch the feature off, and WordPress needs HTTPS for it to appear. Turn it back on, or ask whoever manages your site.
- Not on WordPress: Wix, Squarespace, Shopify and custom sites are different. Tell Marlow in the chat what you use and it will say what it can do.
